Odd Girl Out by, Rachel Simmons, is truly the most insightful book I’ve read on how we teach our girls to interact with one another. I first read this book while serving as a superintendent/principal and was fascinated by the impact of how the moms and female caregivers related to one influenced how the girls interacted with each other in the classroom and on the playground. As you read this book, pay attention to when you see yourself in some of the behaviors that are enculturated into western female social norms.
